ELM GROVE, Wis. — With Halloween right around the corner, a chocolate shop in Elm Grove is working overtime.
Fazio’s Chocolate is making unique, Halloween-themed treats for the candy-filled holiday.
Cindy Karrels has been a chocolatier for the past 15 years. She owns Fazio’s Chocolate and said it’s the greatest career she could ever imagine.
“Chocolate to me is creativity, along with fun, along with deliciousness, and making people’s lives happy,” Karrels said.
Karrrels has been in full work mode, with Halloween quickly approaching. They have new types of Halloween chocolates and they are expecting to sell hundreds of each kind.
She and her team spent hours meticulously putting details on each piece.
“Oh, you can get lost in it. It’s really a lot of fun,” Karrels said.
Over the past few years, their team has stepped up and made more Halloween-focused high-end chocolates to keep up with the demand.
“Halloween has definitely grown over the years,” Karrels said.
They used to only have fall-decorated chocolates, but now they have eight different types of Halloween candies made to look like ghosts, ghouls and so much more.
“It’s a lot of work to make chocolate but when you get to come up with new ideas, it re-inspires you,” Karrels said.
Karrels’ daughter Erica has been a part of the family business for the past five years and said Halloween is something special at the shop.
“My favorite part about Halloween is all the families. I like to see all the families that come in,” Erica Karrels said.
When customers walk in the door to the shop, they are greeted with the infectious smell of chocolate and can see dozens of different types filling the cases.
The Halloween chocolates are a little more spooky and whimsical than others, but still have that delicious taste the business is known for.
Fazio’s Chocolate will host a holiday open house on Nov. 11 and 12.
